Richard Van Gurp, DDS is a local family dentist in Charlotte, NC. With an approachable demeanor that immediately puts his patients at ease, Dr. Van Gurp has earned the reputation as one of the leading general and cosmetic dentists in North Carolina. There are very few among us who are in the enviable position of living out their childhood dream. For Dr. Van Gurp, this is exactly what he is doing. At age of 12, he knew he wanted to be a dentist. In following this dream, his skill and genuine concern for his patients have earned him professional recognition and continued praise from clients. Dr. Van Gurp is a graduate of The University of North Carolina Dental School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. A Dean’s List student while attending Dental School, Dr. Van Gurp was awarded membership into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Fraternity − one of the highest awards given in dentistry. He opened his private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1988 after completing his General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. Family life provides the greatest reward for Dr. Van Gurp. He and his wife, Amy, are proud parents of three wonderful children. Sharing a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Van Gurp and Amy actively support each other in the triathlons and half-marathons that they enter. On occasion, the road races become more exciting when the entire family runs together. Outside of his dental practice, Dr. Van Gurp has served as a consultant to national and international dental companies regarding new product development. He has also lectured to other dentists regarding the newest advances in dental technology and been interviewed on television regarding leading edge technology he uses in his office. He continues to author articles in dental professional journals and local magazines.
