About Joseph A. Ortola, DDS
After working in West Covina’s Queen of the Valley ER as an orderly during his freshman year, he realized that he wanted to devote more time to his family than being a full time doctor would allow, and decided to change his focus to smiles and Dental Sciences. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from USC, and then went on to acquire a secondary B.S. in Dental Sciences and a D.D.S. in Dental Sciences, both from University of California, San Francisco. Upon graduation, he worked one year as an associate dentist in Northern California, and then in 1989, started a practice with a partner. In 1995, Smile Gallery was born as his independent practice in Rialto. Dr. Ortola provides services in many specialties, including surgery (wisdom teeth extractions), endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics and pedodontics. He has taken several orthodontics courses under Derek Mahoney, an Australian board specialized orthodontist. Dr. Ortola is extremely active in the dental community and continually strives to better his practice by completing specialty certificates. He is also a regular attendee at continuing education courses, yearly conventions and annual dental board meetings. When he isn’t performing smile-related procedures on patients, Dr. Ortola can be found gardening, photographing landscapes, traveling, or reading books on design and building concepts. True to his hobbies, he met his wife in Jakarta, and also assisted in the construction of his own home. They have 4 children together.
