About John Q. Cook, MD

Dr. Cook is the founder and medical director of the Whole Beauty® Institute in Chicago and Winnetka, Illinois, one of the first practices in the Midwest to offer a fusion of high level surgical and medical aesthetics. Dr. Cook spent his college years at Yale University, where he graduated cum laude and with departmental honors. He returned to his native Chicago for medical school at Northwestern University, where he determined that plastic surgery would be his chosen field. After medical school he purposely chose the most rigorous path to achieve his training as a plastic surgeon, with eight years of advanced postdoctoral training at Rush University Medical Center and Northwestern University Medical Center. During these years he carried out surgical research that led to s separate Master’s degree. For over 20 years Dr. Cook has been on the faculty of Rush Medical College and on the staff of Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized academic and research hospital. Dr. Cook plays an active role in the Plastic Surgery Fellowship at Rush and he enjoys training the next generation of plastic surgeons, particularly in the field of aesthetic plastic surgery, also known as cosmetic surgery. For the entire time he has been in practice, Dr. Cook has developed a reputation for his innovative, leading edge techniques in 3 areas: facial rejuvenation surgery, plastic surgery of the breast, and advanced body contour surgery. Early in his career Dr. Cook recognized the potential of non-surgical medical aesthetics treatments. He achieved in-depth knowledge of treatments such as chemical peels and laser treatments when these were in their infancy and traveled to Europe to learn about injectable fillers and relaxants before they were available in the United States. To fulfill his vision of a practice that offered the continuum of aesthetic plastic surgery and medical aesthetics, he established the Whole Beauty® Institute. The remarkable success of the Whole Beauty® Institute rests upon a foundation of deep knowledge and on the development of a leadership level team of clinicians. Frustrated by the inadequacies of existing medical grade skin care products, Dr. Cook turned his energy toward the development of the Whole Beauty® line. This growing array of innovative products includes WBR3™, which restores the skin’s protective barrier, replenishes the skin’s water content, and rejuvenates the skin’s structure without retinoids. Dr. John Q. Cook is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, a selective organization of experienced board-certified plastic surgeons with practices that focus on aesthetic plastic surgery. Other memberships include the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons.
